Step 1
Create your account.
Open Tether and enter the name your person should see, your email address, and a password of at least eight characters. If email confirmation is enabled, confirm the message from Tether and then sign in.
The built-in Continue as Alex option is a local demonstration. It does not create a real account, send a real nudge, or connect to another person.
Step 2
Invite one person.
- Choose Share an invite link.
- Send the link privately to the person you want to connect with.
- They create or sign in to their account and open the link. A six-character backup code is included if the link does not open directly.
Each account can have one active connection. Invite links stop accepting new people after they are used.
Step 3
Find the same point.
When both of you have the touch screen open, each finger appears as a separate point. Move toward each other. When the points overlap, the screen blooms and both phones play the selected haptic pattern.
Keep holding for as long as you like. Lifting either finger ends the shared pulse. The hold is added to Moments, but the live route of your finger is not stored there.
When they are away
Send one gentle nudge.
If your person is not currently in the touch space, tap once. Tether records the nudge and asks its notification service to deliver a push to their device.
What happens on their phone?
- The notification identifies Tether and says their person reached out.
- Tether does not open automatically. The recipient chooses whether to tap it.
- Tapping the notification opens the shared touch screen directly.
- It does not automatically send a nudge back. The recipient can tap or hold when they are ready.
Delivery depends on notification permission, network access, and Apple or Google push services. A sent nudge can occasionally be delayed or undelivered.
Optional
Make a quiet ritual.
In Settings, choose Morning hello for 8:00 AM, Evening hold for 9:00 PM, or no reminder. The reminder is scheduled locally on your own phone and makes no sound. Each person chooses their own setting.
Rituals are invitations, not streaks. Missing one has no penalty and is never reported to your person.
Shared history
Keep moments without keeping score.
Moments lists shared holds and nudges. Free accounts can see the most recent seven days. Tether Premium keeps the complete shared history.
Archiving a connection
Choose Archive connection in Settings to close the active space without erasing it. The Relationship Vault keeps a private, read-only record. Archiving is different from deleting your account.
